The Experiment

This was our first 50 L rum cask maturation trial. The cask was originally seasoned for two years with South African highveld craft molasses rum. Small casks mature extremely fast, extracting deep layers of flavour and, in this case, the rum characters. Using a very light single malt new make spirit, the maturation focuses primarily on the cask's contribution. After three years, the result is something unusual, vibrant and worth sharing.

Previewed at recent whisky shows, this whisky became an instant conversation starter. Bold tropical high notes, bright sweet whisky energy and a finish that carries its rum heartbeat.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: Light gold.

Nose: Soft and sweet vanillas with warm and gentle tropical rum fruitiness.

Palate: Creamy, sweet and rounded with an emerging late spice that builds with each sip.

Finish: A reprise of complex rum spice, returning with warmth and subtle sweetness.
